Passed Comps , on to Praxis

Just received an email from professor saying I have passed School administration comprehensive exams. I was a little worried , however, felt I did well. Big test in January, after that everything is gravy.Internship continues to be challenging, managing academic intervention programs, buses, books, teacher concerns, parent concerns, students, instructional practices and curriculum. I now realize how demanding a school admin's job is. Anyway, this is the halfway point, so I know I can make it to the end. peace and blessing this holiday season

Starting to get more involvement with student behavior issues Kindergarten, fourth grade students, and out of school suspensions. Cafeteria duty for 4-5 grade continues to be challenging. Administering a reading intervention program, "Academy of Reading". Getting some good data from it, we need to add incentive component. Running Hard Since July..Intersession finally here..

Intersession is here for Me @ Pearsontown, Interning since July. Biggest challenge , getting teachers to believe in PLC and common assessments, managing textbooks, Documenting teacher walk through's and cafeteria duty. Easiest was bus duty, interacting with students, staff and parents. I have learned to view the big picture in terms of managing a school, staff and students. One needs good strong policies and procedures as a foundation. Communicating your curriculum and instructional goals, methods is vital for continuous school improvment

I am starting as a Administrative Intern Pearsontown Elementary in Durham,NC, I will be under the supervision of Therman Flowers,Principal, Thomascena LeGrand & Eric Johnson, Assistant Principals. This is a year round school with over 900+ students & 100+ teachers and staff. My primary duties are buses, cafeteria, walk-throughs, tardies & early dismissals, SAP and tech support. I sat in on several teacher interviews, did reference checks on several teacher candidates, and today I addressed 5th,3rd and 4th grade students at a school wide discipline & procedures assembly.
